LOUISE VERTIGO
A C A R E E R
Building on alternative rock experience gained performing live with Luc Ringer, Louise Vertigo made her recording debut with The Mighty Bop (Bob Sinclair) who produced her 1996 maxi single “Ultra Violet Sound”. “Je n’ai pas le choix” received airplay on Nova and F.G. Her debut album Femme fin de siècle was released on the prestigious Yellow label and distributed through East-West in 1998, reaching international markets.
Her sophomore album, Louise Vertigo, was released in 2001 on the Musiques Hybrides label, distributed by Delabel via Virgin. FIP championed the album, which features artistic collaborators with Kid Loco, Olaf Hund, Roudoudou, Rubin Steiner, Arnaud Rebotini, and more.
Louise released the CD Toi et Voix with the students of the École National Supérieure de Paris-Pontoise in 2006.
In 2007, Louise recorded the album Les branches des arbres se soulèvent at Vogue studio, with artistic production by Jeff Sharel on the Le Chant du Monde – Harmonia Mundi label, with contributions from DJ Oil.
A period of exploration and performances then opened up for Louise Vertigo. She collaborated on Ex-Peau with fashion designer-visual artist Victor Férès, appeared at the 2009 Festival City Sonic de Mons alongside poet Francis Flament, and created seasonal circular performances throughout 2010 at 100 E.C.S. featuring guests like contemporary dancer Catherine Chatelain, writer Catherine Clemenson, Zen master Pierre Philippon, and more.
The recital Le Bois Secret was recorded with David Gubitch, Valentine Duteuil, and Didier Guegdes and premiered in October 2009 at Point Éphémère. In 2012, she created the show Caracoler, chansons en mouvement at the Jacques Ibert Conservatory in Paris. During the same period, she recorded the EP Caracoler with the Berman brothers.
In 2013, Louise participated in Élixir Haut performances with other artists including Ke Wen (Qi dance), Victor Férès (clothing design), and Gemma Ferron (visual artist) at 100 E.C.S. as well as for Paris’ Nuit Blanche.
This marked the beginning of Louise Vertigo’s quest for authenticity, leading her to perform primarily without amplification and accompanied by guitarist Didier Guegdes with whom she recorded the album Élixir Haut. The latter was released in 2017 on the La Voix et le Souffle label under license to 10h10.
Louise also organized several recitals preceded by meditation sessions at Dojo Zen in Paris in 2015 and 2017.
Her initiation novel La voix métamorphose inspired the creation of a show of the same name at Point Éphémère, staged by Adeline Arias and featuring musician Roudoudou and videographer Juliette Andrea Elie in September 2018.
Louise Vertigo regularly organizes La Voix et Souffle evenings, and has produced and hosted the show “Respirations” on Aligre FM since 2019, alternating guest interviews with complementary musical selections.
Louise Vertigo’s track “Tellement” appears on the compilation Balaga Beats Vol. 1 by Kid Loco, extending their collaboration and heralding the release of her album Chevaucher le vent, with Kid Loco as artistic director. Co-composed by Louise Vertigo and guitarist Didier Guegdes, Chevaucher le vent features guest musicians including Seb Martel (transverse flute, guitar), Manuel Hermia (bansuri flute), Valentine Duteuil (cello), Philip Baden Powell (keyboards), and DJ Roudoudou (Farfisa and cuica beats).
The album sees Louise explore a more medium soul vocal register, paying tribute to Bossa Nova tribute through groove and nature-inspired poetry. It features new compositions alongside a cover of Aragon, a François Villon poem, musical haikus, and diphonic singing. The album was released as a collector vinyl presented at the Institut Français in Kyoto on April 28, 2023 and launched the filming of Komorebi, shot in Japan in the Kansai region and currently in post-production.
