Louise Vertigo crafts songs that explore love through spirituality, emotion, and mystery. Her fluid vocals and uncompromising artistry shape her compelling identity as singer-songwriter and performer.
Louise first emerged as a trip-hop pioneer during France’s iconic French Touch era, sharing the scene with artists like The Mighty Bop (a.k.a. Bob Sinclair) Kid Loco, Olaf Hund, and Rubin Steiner. Her artistic evolution led her to pivot toward deeper authenticity in 2004 when she created “La Voix et le Souffle”, a holistic teaching method harmonizing breath, voice, and movement.
The rich universe of Louise’s pursuits flows naturally into her distinctive vocal approach. Her unique vocal style fuses singing, energy work, and meditation into original elements that infuse her creations with Zen philosophy and her rigorous martial arts discipline. Her ever-evolving repertoire comes to life through albums, live performances, and La Voix et le Souffle evenings. Each experience offers audiences immersive, participatory encounters shaped by the unique venue and the diverse array of artists and practitioners present.
On April 28, 2023, she also celebrated the release of her collector's edition vinyl, *Chevaucher le vent* (Riding the Wind), while presenting the project *La Voix et Souffle* (The Voice and Breath) at the French Institute in Kyoto, as part of a filming tour in the Kansai region of Japan.
Continuing her artistic journey, Louise Vertigo has embarked, alongside directors Véronique Legendre and Joséphine Segond, on the filming of the documentary *Louise et les maîtres du son japonais* (Louise and the Masters of Japanese Sound), which explores the connections between music, spirituality, and the sonic traditions of Japan. This project, produced by Wide Production, will be filmed in May 2026 and will immerse the audience in a unique sonic experience, a blend of aesthetic exploration and spiritual quest.
