The latest album, Chevaucher le Vent, released on May 27, 2022, is available in digital format, with a collector’s edition vinyl release planned for April 2023.
The musical universe of this fifth album blends soul, funk, pop, and bossa nova influences that have long inspired the artist, together with the French chanson tradition she passionately embraces. The album marks the pinnacle of Louise Vertigo’s educational, artistic, and personal exploration of voice in relation to internal martial arts. Fueled by vocal passion, she was compelled to create new musical work as a way of sharing her artistry while breathing fresh energy into her audiences and spreading joy.

This album began with a remarkable encounter…
Shortly before the first lockdown, Louise Vertigo came across a woodcock on the Boulevard Montparnasse in Paris. Though far from its natural habitat, and surrounded by a crowd, the wild bird seemed calm and alert before taking flight. From this unexpected encounter, the song “Chevaucher le Vent” began to take shape in the singer’s mind. In the spiritual world of Zen, riding the wind symbolizes the journey towards enlightenment. The woodcock’s appearance became a sign from the invisible realm, providing the creative impulse that would drive Louise Vertigo’s new album, Chevaucher le Vent.
Louise has dedicated this album to the bird people woven into each track on the album. Chevaucher le Vent carries the hope of a new world centered on ecology, simultaneously anchored in the present and rooted in the past. It is the world of Aragon and François Villon, whose “La Ballade des Pendus” finds new voice in her interpretation. This album serves as her legacy for future generations who will shape the new world, as well as adults carrying with them the children they once were. Chevaucher le Vent stands definitively as an album with ecological values in unwavering support of all living things.
Multiple artistic talents join Louse Vertigo on this project :
Kid Loco leads the artistic direction of Chevaucher le Vent.
Didier Guegdes, Louise Vertigo’s creative partner since 2001, co-wrote all of the album’s original compositions and arranged the cover version of “Est-ce ainsi que les hommes vivent?”.
Pianist Philippe Baden Powell de Aquino brings his Brazilian touch to the songs “L’Oiseau Darling” and “Chevaucher le Vent”.
Guitarist Sébastien Martel layers transverse flute and free-form guitar throughout the musical haiku “I YÉ”.
Cellist Valentine Duteil, who previously collaborated with the duo, also contributes to “Moon River”, “Les Herbes Tendres” and “Marseille”.
Musician and DJ Roudoudou adds his playful, unique touch to “La Ballade des Pendus” while jazz musician Manuel Hermia graces “Marseille” with his Bansuri flute.
La Voix et le Souffle: Louise Vertigo’s teaching method :
“There is a first breath, there is a last breath.” These words capture the essential role of breath in our lives: it connects us to life’s spiritual dimension. For Louise Vertigo, the voice is a portal to the soul, the most intimate musical instrument because it resides within our very bodies, closest to our deepest emotions.
Louise Vertigo works as a singer-songwriter and composer. After pioneering trip hop in France, she shifted direction and artistic focus in 2004 by creating a unique teaching methodology based on her martial arts and zazen meditation practices. Her association, La Voix et le Souffle, provides extensive training programs, notably at CNAM, with artists, and within corporate settings. She also produces and hosts the show “Respirations” on Aligre FM.
